Obviously, talking wasn't going to work, so he circled around to put himself in what should be Bass's range of vision, even if only on the outskirts of it, and reached to put a hand on his shoulder. Somehow he manages to keep himself sounding careless, though there's nothing he can do about the thread of tension skirting just beneath the surface. All of this-

"I'll look. I need to make sure you aren't going to drop dead."

If Bass doesn't freak out too badly, Protoman will try to urge him back into a sitting position.
