Something very strange was happening.
Yami didn't recall taking control of their body; it might've happened when they were asleep (which wouldn't be the first time). Yugi would sometimes inadvertently thrust Yami into control without even realizing he had, and he would wake up breathing and feeling things and all of that nonsense. Yami wouldn't even bat an eyelash as he'd simply seek Yugi out and gently coerce him back into his rightful place as his body's operator.
But it wasn't working this time. How odd. Yami couldn't even find Yugi; couldn't even retreat inside of their mind. So he opened his eyes-
Only to find himself face-to-face with the object of his confusion. "Oh," he said aloud.

He walked a little faster, which was impressive for one with short legs like him. They hadn't even started their list of things to do, and Yugi was already getting excited.
no subject
Like he hadn't already, by possessing her only child and such. Though she didn't seem too upset about that, but then again she could've been holding back until they were alone. A rock sunk into his gut; would he have to tell her about the things they'd done? Shadow games, soul breaking, all the dangerous things that had happened to Yugi? God, he hoped not.
no subject
"Oh, all right." He looked ahead - ah, there was the clothing shop already. "We won't stay out for too long."
And then, they were inside. Rows upon rows of clothes! Clothes for all sizes, men, women and children (don't you even dare suggest he try on some children's clothes, Yami)! Yugi took a moment to let Yami absorb this, and then he let go of his hand. Fly, Yami. Fly. Seek out the clothes that were meant to be with you.
Provided they aren't too expensive.

Yami just kind of. Stares at things for a while. Yeah the most he's ever shopped for is cards. And milkshakes. At a cafe. He'd been with Yugi when he'd gone to get clothes once, but he wasn't really paying attention since it was dull as hell and not about card games.
So instead Yami will stand there looking helpless until he kind of...wanders over to a rack aimlessly and pretends to look through it. It's a rack of plus-size pants that would never fit him in a million years.
no subject
He didn't. But he could, at least, lead him to the shirts and pants that was meant for his size. What to show, what to show- ah, here we are! On the far wall were pants that were supposed to be up to date with the current style, which meant dark and with plenty of chains hanging from the belt loops. And Yugi knew just how much Yami liked his bling.
"How about this?" Yugi took one of them; tight-fitting, but not leather, and held it up. He didn't know Yami's size, and he doubted his other knew either, and it's not like the sizes meant much in the end anyway, so he had to rely purely on guess work.
no subject
"...that's fine." Probably. That probably worked all right. Feeling very much like a fish out of water, he turned to the rack and flipped through a few more things. Could he just grab whatever, make sure they fit and then get out of there?
Though he would prefer shirts without sleeves. God he hated sleeves.

Once that was done with, he tapped Yami on the shoulder, then led him over to the fitting rooms. "Here," He said as he handed the clothes over (only a few, he didn't want Yami bored to tears or anything), "You can try these out in the fitting rooms. I'll be right here."
no subject
Yami did as he was told though; took the clothes from Yugi and headed into the dressing room. Located an empty stall. Set the clothes on the little bench and attempted to lock the stall door. Failed miserably at it.
Aibou, I need you.

What is it? It'd be best to keep their conversation hidden within the safety of their minds. No doubt they'd receive strange looks if they overheard him teaching his other self how to work something or the other.
no subject
Yugi would know how to deal with it.
So Yami just took the liberty of changing right there, because what the heck they've shared a body for months and months now. Like there's anything new to see.

Luckily, he was facing the stall door and was working on the lock. He could see how it would confuse people who aren't used to it, especially someone new to this modern age, but since he had visited this clothing store several times (mostly with his mother or Anzu), it was simple for him.
Now that it was locked... Well, now what? Should he stay facing away? Turn around since this should be nothing new? Escape through the gap under the door and wait out there until Yami needed help unlocking the door?
Option A seemed to be the wisest and most decent choice, and so, Yugi locked his hands behind his back and stared up at the ceiling, waiting for the sound of rustling clothing to be relatively silent.

This shirt had sleeves.
Yami was not pleased, but he rolled them up and felt a bit better. The pants were fine, the shirt was fine (ish) and everything was fine. Great. One down, a couple more to go.
...what the hell was Yugi doing over there? "Aibou?" Yami asked aloud, clearly not at all concerned about whether or not he'd be overheard.
no subject
"Hm?" Yugi blinked and turned fully; it wasn't quite so embarrassing now that Yami had clothes on, so he leaned against the door and tilted his head just slightly. There didn't seem to be any problems this time...
no subject
Time to strip that shit off and try the next one. Apparently someone over here had absolutely no shame.
no subject
But then again... This could be rude. Steeling himself, he turned around and leaned back against the door with a light 'thunk', though he decided to stare up at the ceiling. It was indecent.
No sleeves, huh? Yugi asked in an attempt to not have such an awkward silence hang in the air.
no subject
Yugi was behaving very strangely though, and Yami gave him a look after pulling the next shirt over his head. Is there something wrong?
no subject
no subject
You don't have to stay in here if this is awkward for you, Aibou. I don't mind. Yami didn't personally see the big deal, but if Yugi was going to flail about then he'd rather he wait outside the room. No need to freak the poor kid out.

He was about to ask if the shirt and pants fit, when he noticed the bruises that formed on Yami's neck. That's right... He got the worst of it, didn't he? He rubbed the front of his own, where the puzzle had yanked him down, and then maneuvered his shirt to hide them. Sorry about this morning, Yugi sent through their link, I was just... surprised.
no subject
He touched a couple fingers to them, brow furrowing. These were his fault. ...do they hurt much?
no subject
And there was no way he was about to let his other self take the blame for this. He gave a frown of his own and reached up to touch the tips of his fingers against Yami's neck, where more bruises of the same color were showing up. Besides... You have a lot more than I do. Those - and these, he lowered his head a bit to gesture to his own throat, were my fault. I was the one who yanked you up first, remember?

The sooner we finish here, the sooner we can return home so you can be treated. And he tugged off his shirt to try on the next two outfits, rushing a bit in his hurry to get out of there. Yugi being in pain because he was taking too long to pick out clothes was simply unacceptable.
no subject
Now, to his original question. Are the clothes fitting you all right? I can get some more if they don't.
no subject
Stupid. He should have noticed before, and they should have done it before going anywhere. Satisfied with what they found, Yami shrugs the black shirt and pajama bottoms back on, gathering up their soon-to-be purchases in his arms and giving the lock a rather put-out look, hoping he could just will it open with his mind instead of having to wrestle with it.

To see a group of preteens hurriedly turn away from gawking at the door and snicker behind their hands before hurrying away. Yugi seemed confused at first... but gasped in realization, then covered his face and let out a groan. It wasn't like two people in the same dressing room always had to mean... something else.
But before Yami could ask, Yugi worked his way towards the cash registers. The last thing he wanted was to explain how the young mind can jump to degrading conclusions very quickly. We need to pay, then hurry home. Then mom can give you her talk. Eh... good luck with that.
