[ Bass didn't know how it was possible but Mimmi -Mimmi Kopanski, Mimmi from that Goddamn ship that he wanted to forget, that Mimmi- was here. In his world. Walking down the street.
Granted, she looked confused and lost and very unsure as to where she was, but she happened to be in America a few hundred years after she would have died naturally. Even worse than that-
She was right in the middle of a bona fide danger zone. Namely, two steps away from a cluster of structures Wily wanted blasted to the ground after Bass extracted all the necessary information from the databanks within. Great. Great.
First things first; Bass had to escort her from the area or she'd probably get caught up in the confusion and die. He snarled, stormed over to Mimmi and took her arm in hand, hissing darkly in German, ]
Move. Come with me, right now.

But then, someone was grabbing her arm. Alarmed, she looked over and there was Forte. Which only heightened her confusion. And he was yelling at her, which was either a good sign or a bad sign. Considering the circumstances, she went with the latter.
So here we go, more German!]
Forte? What is going on?
no subject
Bass ignores her question and steers her into an alleyway, glancing to make sure they weren't followed before releasing her. ]
What are you doing here?! How did you get here?!
no subject
She actually thought he was dead, not being on the ship anymore and all, which only makes her more confused. But, you know. Weirder things have happened.]
I do not know! I was on the ship and then I was here. That is it. And you did not answer my question.
no subject
[ hrrrrgh ]
I don't have time for this. Stay here. Don't move until I come get you.
mimmi showed up JUST to screw with you, bass 8D
[It's clear there's no room for argument, so Mimmi isn't going to bother until Bass is less distracted.]
THAT'S HIS TAKE ON IT AT LEAST :|
Okay he's off to do his business, namely sneaking into a building, stealing data into his robot brain and then setting charges to blow the place sky-high. He sets the timers, high-tails it outta there and ducks into the alley to collect Mimmi. ]
Time to go, [ he mutters and, without a moment's delay, grabs Mimmi to throw over his shoulder and scales a nearby ladder to a rooftop, where he starts leaping from roof to roof in order to get the hell away from where he just was.
Over his shoulder like that, Mimmi probably has a perfect view of the buildings as the bombs detonate, the blast rocks the ground and air (enough to even make Bass stumble in his run) and the buildings begin to crumble to the ground in a great cloud of dust and debris, people below on the streets screaming and fleeing the site. ]
no subject
And if that didn't terrify her enough, they're jumping on the rooftops. And things are exploding. You can bet Mimmi is mad amongst her terror.]
Forte, what are you doing!?
[She's practically shrieking at him and, you know, covering her face so she can avoid the debris in the air and not look down.
Oh, did she ever mention that she gets motion sickness, Bass? This might get ugly if she doesn't get down soon.]
no subject
...except it's pretty gross. Okay, so after a minute Bass will stop and put Mimmi down, heading right over to the edge of the building to observe the devastation. That's good work there. Too bad Mimmi was around; he'd be enjoying himself a lot more if he didn't have to worry about her.
oh sorry mimmi did you want an explanation
bass doesn't feel like giving one so he's ignoring you ]
no subject
And right now, Mimmi is peeved. She is not going to put up with this. She's so out of her comfort zone right now. So Mimmi marches right over to Bass, looking more than a little unhappy.]
Forte, what is going on? Did you do that? You could have hurt people--
[Okay, hold that thought. She's trying not to puke everywhere. Give her a minute.
...]
I want answers.
no subject
You're not that stupid. You honestly think I was built to be nice to people?
no subject
And as threatening as Bass's demeanor is right now, and as tempting as it is to back the shit up, she just stands there and glares right back at him.]
I do not care what you were built for! It does not mean you have to do it. You are intelligent. You can think for yourself.
[She stamps her foot in frustration and throws her arms up. This entire situation is ridiculous. Someone please tell her the Captain is just fucking with everyone again. Please.]
You made the decision to make sure I was not blown to bits by that stupid building, so you are perfectly capable of thinking about other people too. Maybe you should try it once in a while!
no subject
It's Sunday. They were closed. Nobody was inside when I destroyed them.
[ Nobody but a few security bots, but who cared about those things? Stupid tin cans.
He reaches out to grab at Mimmi's wrist. ]
Now we have to go. I'm not getting caught because you want to argue ethics with me.
no subject
But... she's on a roof for goodness sake. A roof. With no way to get down herself. Being disagreeable won't get her out of whatever mess the universe decided to throw her into. The last thing she should be doing is throwing a Mimmi-sized tantrum. So she sets her jaw and nods in a resigned way.]
Fine.
no subject
[ GOD. GIRLS. ARE SO. ANNOYING.
Bass throws Mimmi over his shoulder again, because he's just that horrible a person. ...and it's the only way to get across the roofs and down to the street eight blocks later. Hopefully Mimmi did not blow chunks. ]
no subject
But she's still not happy.]
Now what?
no subject
[ Bass pulls up the hood on a sweatshirt he'd donned from a bag retrieved when they'd descended into another alley from the rooftops. ]
no subject
Oh. That is a good idea, I suppose.
[And just out of curiosity...]
Why did you destroy that building?
no subject
[ That's usually why he follows orders, when he ever does anymore. It's been pretty hit-and-miss since he came back, his obedience. Even worse than before. ]
I can't take you with me. I'm going to buy you a room at a hotel and report back to Wily, and then I'll come get you again and figure out what the fuck to do.
[ Because he's the boss of you and all. ]
no subject
All right.
[Reasonable enough, considering the circumstances. She's trying really hard not to be grudgey.]
no subject
Doesn't matter anyway, they're at the hotel and Bass just deposits her there and leaves. Thankfully, it's only about ten minutes until he returns (teleportation is so useful, he missed it so much on the ship) and just to be even weirder, he enters through the window.
Or tries to. They auto-lock and all, and he's outside. He taps on the glass, scowling at Mimmi through it. ]
no subject
She's glad he didn't take too long. But really, why do you have to return via window? There is a door.
Mimmi gets off the bed and unlocks the window, opening it so Bass can get inside.]
no subject
Bass just walks in, sits down in a corner and glares at her like it's her fault her life is fucked up right now. ]
...this is fucking stupid. How the hell are you here?!
no subject
I do not know. I did not choose to be here. I do not even know where here is.
no subject
[ God he could just. Punch a baby. Just right now, he could go into the street and slap an infant, that's how angry he is over this. ]
This isn't going to work. You need to leave. If you stick around here you're just going to get in trouble.
no subject
I am sorry, but I do not think I can get myself back on my own. So if you have a suggestion I would love to hear it.
[You better not slap a baby, Bass. Then you'll have and angsty Mimmi on your hands.]
no subject
[ Bass sulks for a few more seconds before leaping to his feet and stamping a foot. ]
FUCK! What the hell now?!
no subject
[SIGH. Mimmi rubs her face.]
I am simply glad you are alive.
no subject
Yeah well-
Well he doesn't care that you're all right! He doesn't! ]
...whatever.
You can't stay with me. I move around too much, I don't stop at nights and I don't keep things to eat.
no subject
[Maybe.]
I could work for food.
[She's hoping this is kind of temporary. And she doesn't even know where or how she'd work.
Wash peoples clothes or something.]
no subject
[ ...WAIT THAT SOUNDS LIKE HE'S CARING ABOUT HER- ]
I mean that I'll get you money first! Steal it from the old crackpot's bank account or something-!
no subject
Alright, alright. Calm down. I was only making a suggestion.
no subject
You can't stay in this city. You should probably go back to Germany, overseas. And I'll need to forge all your papers and shit, too.
no subject
[Jeez it's so useful to have someone who can easily fake all this crap for you.
But hey wait a minute.]
Is it safe to go to Germany?
no subject
[ It takes a second before Bass realizes what she's actually asking- that's right. She's from the time around World War II. ]
Yeah. It's safe. World War II was hundreds of years ago.
no subject
Goodness that is a long time.
[Guess she has nothing to worry about. Unless she can't figure out hwo to work anything.]
c-can i tag this back
[ There's so much about normal, every day things Mimmi won't even understand until he gives her a course in modern technology. Could she even figure out how to work the credit system with no physical money?
Bass stands up and paces along the length of the room, lacing his fingers together behind his neck. ]
Fine. Fuck. Fine, okay. This is what we're going to do. I'm going to take you to Germany and get you set up. I'll stay for...a week. And then you're on your own, got it?
[ Not like he wouldn't be popping in to check on her, but that wasn't because he gave a rat's ass or anything. He just didn't want his efforts to integrate her into modern society to be wasted by her doing something stupid like starving to death because she forgot how to buy groceries the new way. ]
NO NEVER 83
Mimmi gives Bass a look, currently trying to picture herself alone in future Germany. It's a very lonely thought. And kind of terrifying. But dammit she can handle it. She can take care of herself. Somehow.
Even if everything she's ever known is long gone.]
When are we leaving?
I'M SORRY
[ Bass heads over to the window and opens it, putting a foot on the sill. ]
I've got shit to do. If you need something, order room service.
ILU IT'S K
[She watches him go, still wondering why the heck he doesn't just use a door. Windows are not safe to climb through, Bass.]
Be safe.
[And she'll try to figure out this room service thing!]
no subject
KNOCK KNOCK. Hopefully Mimmi isn't sleeping too soundly. ]
no subject
Oh. It was just Bass. Again. Okay.
Mimmi crawls out of the bed (she hadn't been sleeping much anyway, it was so weird that everything was so still after being on a ship for so long) and pulls the window open again.]
Good morning.
