This was not how Castiel had wanted to reunite with Dean Winchester. In fact, now that he was at that point, Cas wasn't sure he'd wanted to reunite with Dean Winchester at all. Guilt sank heavy and uncomfortable in his stomach and he was still getting used to the intensity of feeling.
He'd thought things were confusing as an angel. Twenty times worse with a human ticker pumping away in his chest.
Still, there wasn't exactly an option of running when the only exit was prowled by the Leviathan just beyond the door, held at bay only by the wards Cas had carved into the wood and accented with blood from the gash clotting on his forearm. He checked the shells in his shotgun (useless), the bowie knife against his thigh (also useless) and finally, finally looked over at Dean, not sure what he was going to see.

He'd take care of his own business out here, except he's reasonably sure Cas is only going to be a couple minutes. ...If that. In light of that, Dean thinks he'll just wait until Cas is done with his business. He's a big boy. He'll survive another five minutes.

Man's got some stamina.

Dean gets up and bangs on the bathroom door. "C'mon, Cas, other people here need to do things, too!"

Instead, the water shuts off and Cas walks out of the bathroom with a towel and goes straight for his duffel. He looks more relaxed than he has in...ever, but he's definitely not meeting Dean's eyes and if his lack of conversation means anything, he's not talking to him just yet either.
...then again Cas doesn't often have things he needs to say anyway, so that could just be normal.

"Took you long enough." Dean gets off the bed and heads into the bathroom, shucking his shirt before he's even closed the door. He's going to have a hot shower, thanks.

Orgasms...those are amazing. And they're supposed to be even better with two people involved?! Why hadn't he done this until now?! God he's so stupid. Stupid.
Cas gets dressed, packs up the rest of his things and throws them into the trunk of the Impala. Sam is already packing up as well, glances up as Cas comes outside and turns just a little red. That's the guy who made his big brother bat for the other team. It's weird.
Sam's greeting is choked, Castiel says 'good morning' with the same composure he always does, and Sam offers to get them coffee from down the street.
Cas decides to wait out by the car. Just in case Dean had the bright idea of walking out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel.

He spends twice as long in the shower as Cas did, determined to enjoy himself thoroughly. Which he does. Happily. Okay, so he's helped out by the fact that he's in his 30s, which slows everything down, but whatever.
Half an hour later, Dean emerges from the room, duffel hefted over his shoulder. He shoves his things into the trunk, takes his coffee from Sam--what a good little brother--and shoves his way into the driver's seat of the car.
"So I say we figure out something to put Cas' Grace in, split our asses up, and go clean up some damn Leviathans. If anybody's got objections, voice 'em now."

"Right. Let's get moving, then." He starts the car and pulls out of the parking lot.

"And if we're all together, they can do the same thing! They already--Sam, you didn't see it, but one of them came after me--" That's Cas' dirty laundry. Screw it. "Look. We're screwed no matter what, so why not keep doing like we've been doing?"

Cas is wise to be staying out of this sibling spat.

"I never said I couldn't deal with you, I said I couldn't deal with what you were doing to yourself! I thought that if you had some time alone you'd get your head on straight, like last time." Y'know, when he called and you told him to get lost, and then called like ten minutes later and was like 'Sam I need you again come back to me,' right? Remember that?
Sam wrenches open the door and shoves a leg out. "But you know what, that's fine. I don't want to get in the way. I'll go to Bobby's and we'll work together."
no subject
Okay, so it wasn't a healthy normal reaction, considering he's spent quite a while drinking himself into a drunken stupor just to force himself to sleep at night and lately Dean is entirely too good at functioning when hungover, but that's not the point. The point is that Sam is obviously overreacting.
"So yeah. Yeah, you go work with Bobby. Tell him I said hi."
no subject
"Yeah I'll do that." Sam slams the door, stands sulkily by the trunk until Dean pops it for him, grabs his things and marches off to find some poor sap's car to hotwire and steal. You are a complete and utter dick, Dean.

None of that is how Dean meant that conversation to go. For half a day, things were fine and now Sam's being a bitch again and this is probably all Dean's fault, but is it really that wrong for him to want some time to himself? It's not exactly fair for Sam to just butt the hell back in whenever he wants is it?
Or no, dammit. Dean's being selfish again, isn't he. Good job, Dean. Always with the selfishness. No wonder everybody leaves.
